Historical Background:

3-Methylmorphine is an alkaloid found in the opium poppy. The poppy plant has been used throughout history for different medicinal uses. Codeine was discovered by a french scientist by the name of Pierre Robiquet. He extracted morphine from the poppy plant, which was later mixed with another chemical to create Codeine. He made his discovery in 1832. Codeine's first uses were for surgery and relaxation purposes. It is very important now and used as a prescription drug all over the world.
3-Methylmorphine can be found in Vicodin and codeine cough syrup. It is mainly used to relax and stimulate the brains waves taking away the pain. It can be obtained by taking it in pill form, or liquid codeine. Codeine is very important and the drug they usually give you after a surgery to get rid of the pain. Without codeine, patients would be in severe pain and would have nothing to cope with the pain post-surgery. Codeine is very important to the world but can also be very addictive. You should not take codeine unless it is prescribed directly to you.

Reaction Tendencies:

Codeine is converted by an enzyme in the liver to morphine, which is an active analgesic and naturally occurring compound in humans.
It will stimulate the brain and make the brain think the pain has been relieved, when realistically it hasn't.
